I am an artist and researcher based in the UK whose work examines material evidence from war and conflict to environmental disasters and climate change. My current research is focused on investigating the politics of cold and consists of a four-part documentary series, field-school and legal forum. “Learning from Ice” has already taken me into ice cores archives and geochemistry labs in Canada and the US. In 2020-21 the project shifts to fieldwork sites in the Svalbard Archipelago, Hindu Kush and Karakoram ranges as well as in Nunavut. I have has published widely within the context of media and politics and am author of the new book, Material Witness: Media, Forensics, Evidence published by MIT Press in 2020. Currently I am Director of the Centre for Research Architecture, Goldsmiths University of London and an affiliate artist-researcher and Board Chair of Forensic Architecture. I moved back to the UK from Canada in 2011 to take on the role of Senior Research Fellow and Project Co-ordinator of Forensic Architecture. Today I am also the current External Examiner on the Environmental Architecture MA here at the RCA.
