New wine in old bottles: retelling the fairy tale
A panel discussion on storytelling in photography.

A panel discussion on storytelling in photography, curated and hosted by artists Nadja Ellinger, Elena Helfrecht and Hermione Wiltshire.

We are happy to welcome writer Carol Mavor reading her fairy tale "Sale Dolce" (Sweet salt), followed by a panel discussion with Carol Mavor and Jack Zipes, Esther Teichmann, Alexandra Antonopoulou and Mathis Zhang.

Inspired by Angela Carters famous quote "I am all for putting new wine in old bottles, especially if the pressure of the new wine makes the bottles explode“ we will talk about repetition through folklore and its relation to the narration, to the storyteller and the audience. The fairy tale’s strength lies in its ability to retell itself, thus constantly adapting to new languages, environments, and people. The fact that it wasn’t written down, fixed by a literary pin, enabled it to evolve freely. Together we will follow the fairy tale beyond the path and explore what lies beyond.
