Awc (Chuwen) Wang (b. 1995, China) is an artist who works in the field of theatrical performance and performance art. Her works have been exploring interactivity. During her stay in Shanghai, she explored and practiced the abstract relationship between human beings and space, and the objective characteristics of the near-death experience.

Awc Wang is using non sequitur device within performance, moving image, writing to symbolise the conflict between human tendency and human inability. She responds to the absurd condition of human existence as shifting the paradigm and changing the rules. Affected by environmental theatre and interactive theatre, she explored interactive performance by recombining interactive layers and digesting physical spaces, to weaken the alienating or the exclusive environments, in order to expand the inclusive and participatory of performance art. Her immersive way of creating and ironic tastes delicately deconstructs the relationship and interaction between humans and society. She currently lives and works in London and Shanghai.

Her recent theatrical lives include ordinary, the old Westgate theatre, Hunan (2017); Murmuration, Shanghai Interactive Festival, Shanghai (2016); A Little Night Music, TUNA, Taipei (2016); Gianni Schicchi, TUNA, Taipei (2016); Richard III, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, Shanghai (2015); Morning Enlightenment, QSW Culture Center, Shanghai International Festival of Arts, Shanghai (2015). Her recent works and collaborations include Conversation I, 302_Redirect, RCA CAP Online Festival, London (2020); Kinaesthesia, Surrealist Cabaret, RAM, London (2020); Listening My Mustard, Disorders Vol.3, Ugly Duck, London (2019); Body Whispers, Transparent Domain, LSE, London (2019); The Contract, WIP Show, Royal College of Art, London (2019); The Smell, Beyond The Body, Roya College of Art, London (2018); Room II, STA, Shanghai (2017); Empathy, TUNA, Taipei (2016).

Standing in the grove, as an absurdist. Facing the world with a proper distance, snooping, observing and escaping the meaningless, purposeless, chaotic or irrational. The Ok-man, an illusory hero who appearing the attitude of “be ok with” any matters. Expecting to seek the truth, the intelligence and morality of inherent value. In the conflict between human tendency and human inability. “Okay, okay.” The alienation can be put under any kind of political social structure. A choice that can choose "no choice", a hallucination in hallucinations.

Informed and contradicted by the ontology of performance art by Peggy Phelan. I experimented with a different way of documenting performance art and the further possibilities of documentation here in Conversation I.

Listening My Mustard is a durational live performance that explored the concept of interactive performance in the context of contemporary art. In this performance, participation and interactions was been deconstruct into 3 different layers, which set up three parallel spaces that happened at the same time. Within the coexist of parallel spaces, I use headphones, mustard, tangerines, and recorded audios to accomplish a series of actions of incompatible and non-sequitur, to respond to the decadent orders in the society as shifting and changing.

It is beyond logic and above reason.
Beyond comprehension.
Beyond inconceivable.
Touching upon its salty bitterly icily things.
Swinging floating melting subverting gently.
Subvert I.
It is not a matter of the present but for eternity.
It is Joan of Arc.
It is the chance to prove that a cow is not I.
It is not a matter of opportunity.
It is not a matter of the wildly windy directions.
Ant,
Agon,
Ism,
Ant,
Agon,
Ize,
Slacken, loosen, gradually slower.
Re,
Lax,
It is beyond logic and above reason.
Beyond comprehension.
Beyond inconceivable.
Vitality, is it?
The chaos caused by vitality, is it?
Vitality an individual impulse, is it?
Vitality a passion without practicality, is it?
Different kinds of dizziness quickly gathering and dispersing.
The illness is so ill.
Tomorrow is another day.

Think of fully soaked put in.
Think of can’t change the I, the Avatar.
Avatar.
Is it individual will?
It is beyond logic and above reason.
Beyond comprehension.
Beyond inconceivable.

Symbolism, emotional symbolism, cultural symbolism.
Burdened tiring Avatar.
To be borne while the subject disappears.
To be borne while the horizon drowns.
No ground wired exists and no one else.
Can we still see poetry in the world?
Can we still see poetry in the ocean?
The gap between the world and the ocean.
The circus or else existence.
In between poems.
Tomorrow is another day.

Completely bottom sit-in.
Idealism, heroism, communism.
The great personality the moral courage.
It is gone.
It is beyond logic and above reason.
Beyond comprehension.
Beyond inconceivable.
Does it exist?
Does it really exist?
Front, back, left, right.
All around with no clues.
Did it exist?
Did it really exist?
It is not fluently enough to exist elsewhere.
Suffering, misery, distress, tribulation, pain does not affect appetite.
How bizarre.
Tomorrow is another day.
