Statement
Moving Moments in Time
Speeding or slowly creeping forwards, moments overlap and give rise to yet unknown possibilities, morphing into new outlines.
Similarly Roovers composes visually. Partly planned, but leaving much open to change, working with displacement and attraction, the new forms arise by morphing seemingly loose elements into new harmonious entities, that function for the next step in the procces.
All the time progressing, crawling back into itself like a feedback loop, which moves like Slime.
A longing for a past that is not present.
------------------
The transcending nature of a material such as a formless entity like slime, that gathers but doesn’t stick, serves as a philosophical answer to a closed system.
My work is created from an intuitive instinct that first arises in an abstract, clearly outlined form; often voluptuous and playful with a sense of clumsiness.
Here you could see the movement from nothingness to being. However, beyond this direct play, the real added value is often to be found inthe ideological study that transcends the chosen form to a new liberating dimension.
Formless could be a representation of metamorphism like the shredding of skin, or remaining stable in its form as a feedback loop; constantly folding into itself while not necessarily expanding outwardly but rather/hopefully an inner-journey of transformation.
Never ending, never starting but in constant flux, matter and form are in constant movement posing questions about what reality really is.
Lucretius speaks about Venus, a goddess who creates, but is not divided from or beyond that which she creates. She is fully immanent. Venus is not only the external object of desire, she is desire herself. Hence she can be seen as both the process and object. Venus is the immanent process of desire/pleasure, which desires itself.
With a tessellation of colour, the light is sculpted around the elements and strengthens the individual presence, shaping doubles through shadow and in its reflection.
I have worked on the conjunctions between light and forms, during the RCA in the project Moving Moments inTime, (and throughout all my previous photography works I realize in hind-sight), forming a Hegelian understanding of Becoming. Creating multiple doubling, and working with an internal affect of psychological projection, about the other.
With this project I aim to provide my audience with a key but not the answer (!) to a closed system, more like a possible answer to the absurdity of the world. Where I apply a metaphysical interpretation of reality, inspired by existentialistic influences.
Bruises,
clouds, thoughts and body parts.
Reflection,
affect, interaction, objectification, desire, the Real and its double and
otherness.
Attaining a transitional state from perception to imagination, you have to be flexible. Be willing to let go of what you think you know and be open. To gather like the Bricoleur with a sense of curiosity, not afraid to run into something Weird or merely focused on the outcome, but rather enjoy it’s journey.

Moving Moments in Time - previous & Photography works
Moving Moments in Time, started when Mondriaan museum asked me to respond to an early figurative painting of Mondriaan. It got me thinking about the passage of time, and how different medium capture time differently.
In honor of Mondriaan I made a structure out of abstract forms, translusant materials and mirrors. This object is then reflecting in and onto itself whilst being shown from different perspectives in the photos.
-------
The passage of time, growing older, reflecting. In a mirror, in thought or suddenly noticing new lines in the face. Our life moves in a continuous line, that is hard to catch. Speeding or slowly creeping moments overlap and morph while only beginning and end are clearly marked.
Without a solid trajectory, moments overlap and give rise to new possibilities.
Similarly Roovers composes visually. Partly planned, but leaving much open to coincidence, working with displacement and attraction, the new contours arise by morphing loose elements. Always on the search for that brief Kairos moment where all seems to be in harmony.
