Experimental Animation

Julian Gallese

I was born in San José, Costa Rica, 1992. My first solo exhibition (Love is pink, 2011) took place in Despacio, a space that provided a platform for central american artists. Since making my first short film, Menagerie (2014), my work has been shown in festivals and galleries around the world, some of those include: Edge of Frame at the BFI in London, UCCA in Beijing (CIAFF), Ann Arbor Film Festival, Ottawa Animation Festival, GLAS, Hiroshima Animation Festival, New Chitose Airport Animation Festival and Museo de Arte Costarricense (museum of costa rican art), among others.

I've been invited to speak at Pratt Institute in New York, CETAV in Costa Rica and Fest Anča in Slovakia.

Artist residencies:

2018: Toronto Animated Image Society, Canada

2013: Despacio, Costa Rica
