Lunhua Kong
Lunhua Kong was born in northern China.
She mainly creates photography, video and installation.
Lunhua Kong's projects take photography and video installation as the medium. On the basis of vision and hearing, they expand the internal space narrative of installation works and construct the multi-dimensional communication for audience. These projects explore the role of photography beyond its function of record and reflect on the 'gap' between images and concepts.
Lunhua Kong's works pay attention to people’s unique and hidden emotions that appear against the background of contemporary culture. Particularly, they examine the living conditions that Asian females are faced with against the cultural background of the revival of Confucian culture.
Presented in various media forms, Lunhua Kong's recent project 'Constant Conjunction' is an ongoing project that will continue in the near future. It discusses women as the "watched" role in the tea ceremony and reflections on contemporary Zen culture.
view 2 — The ‘secondary dyeing’ changes the original appearance of these two photos and establishes a ‘space of difference.’ It creates a ‘gap’ between real images and cognition in the tea ceremony. Behind the performance of the tea ceremony is the relationship between ‘observing’ and ‘being observed.’
view 3-details; the screen of the moving images — The process of dyeing paper with tea is like bathing the body, from hot to cold. These Japanese handmade papers are like the rough skin of an old woman, soft and warm. When approaching, you will smell matcha.
The dreamlike imaginary space constructs a parallel night world behind the stylized daytime's ceremony. It is like a secret that flowers and tea can play in another role compares with them in the Ikebana and cha-no-you styles during the ceremony.

Movies and photos are connected by red textile threads. These threads are like blood vessels in bodies, like blood ties in families, and also like "secretions" of these photos.
