Experimental Animation

During her study at the RCA, by engaging the new life experience and way of study, she coordinated her work into a new progressed view. Based on the new life experience which completely differentiates from her original cultural background, she challenged herself to build a brand new storytelling system that she never engaged before.

In her graduation film, Yitong attempts to express her experience of anxiety and mood disorder through her 2D animation technique. Living in a foreign culture, she often finds difficulties in communication with other people: not due to the language barrier, but to the cultural and her emotional difficulties. So after the numerous doubtful thoughts, she decided to face her heart and express the feeling honestly.

As animation is the most comfortable way to express for her, she took the chance and developed her graduation film into a piece that speaks the most to her heart. By finishing the film, she fulfills the desire of expressing her thoughts and feeling and moves to the next stage of life peacefully by finishing her journey at the RCA.

The inspiration comes from Yitong's humorous and sad experience about she tried the dating
app when she was bored. The protagonist has completed a stage of growth at the film ends,
expressing that we maybe have to learn how to get along with ourselves rather than others in the end and this process to finish ourselves growth face ourselves.

The image of the main character wearing a plastic bag on her head is an extension of Yitong's inner image. From a different personal point of view, the protagonist can also be an extension of many people, who are lonely and unable to reveal their true selves. Yitong hopes the film will make the audience feel the same way.

The film contains a large number of material attempts, and it is Yitong's personal style to try to integrate new textures into the action of the picture.
