A Nerve Root Retractor is an important tool to neurosurgeons because it allows them to access the lumbar portion of the spine. It holds back the Nerve Root, which covers the vertebrae and disks.
This tool is important because it is a new surgical tool that allows surgeons, specifically neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons, to steadily retract the spinal sac and nerve root that travel thru the spinal canal. This gives them easier and safer access to the surgical target and allows them to work without damaging vital neural structures.
